Charity Governance

At TEN we believe in the importance of good governance and transparency. We know that this supports our efforts to have the greatest possible positive impact in Eastern Europe.

During more than 55 years of operating we have developed our governance that we hope is exemplified in the following ways:

Trustees

We have a board of Trustees who meet four times per year.

Reporting and Costs

We submit our independently examined annual report & accounts to the Charity Commission for England and Wales and Companies House.  This can be viewed, along with details of costs here.

Partner reporting

When our Partners and Members sign up to be part of TEN, they commit to report regularly on their ministries and on specific grants sent during the year.

Privacy and accountability

At TEN we are committed to good practice in relation to data protection. We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office and you can read our privacy policy here.

TEN takes seriously our responsibility to manage our finances in line with UK and international law. We have processes in place to ensure we have a full audit trail for funds sent internationally.

Safeguarding

TEN has recently reviewed the safeguarding practice of our UK operation and our responsibilities in relation to our Partners and Members. We are members of Thirtyone:eight, have a safeguarding policy, an appointed board member for safeguarding and our CEO is the safeguarding lead.

Whilst recognising that we cannot impose UK safeguarding practice on our Partners and Members, we are committed to working alongside them in ensuring good practice in safeguarding whichever nation they are operating in.

You can read our safeguarding policy here.

Staff and volunteers

We seek to empower and support our staff to deliver their roles to have the biggest impact in their areas of responsibility. This means all staff are supported through ongoing professional development and line management.

Our pay scales are based on the lower NHS pay rates. To ensure we are doing all we can to minimise discrimination we do not expect staff to raise their own salary funding. We keep paid staff to a minimum. Staff perform multiple functions. Our work is strengthened and augmented by a large network of volunteers involved in various functions of the organisation.
