Ivan grew up in a Christian family, the eldest son of Petre Petrov, who for many years was the senior pastor at the Evangelical Church (EC) in Shtip.

Ivan has a heart for sharing the gospel in the Balkans and TEN has followed with interest his journey of seeking God’s will for his life during the past decade.
After completing high school in Shtip he studied at Bible School in Pennsylvania, USA for two years from 2018 – 2020 before returning to North Macedonia to serve at his local church, EC Shtip and a church plant at Sveti Nikole.
During 2022, Ivan attended a six-month YWAM Discipleship Training School based in Hungary with outreach phases in Albania and Romania. The following year he returned to YWAM Budapest as a staff member for the Urban DTS 2023.
In December 2023 Ivan was ordained and took over the leadership of EC Shtip. As well as organising the Sunday services, he leads the youth work and was encouraged when one young man was baptised in 2024. The church runs various programme to share the gospel, distribute relief parcels and Christmas shoeboxes to the local community and arrange events for young people to get to know Jesus.
