About the lessons
What you will learn
In the lessons you will learn vocabulary and grammar, and practise speaking, reading and listening in English. Stories about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, many from the Bible, will be included in the lesson for reading comprehension and discussion.
Important information:
-
InternetLessons will last up to 90 minutes. You will need to have a good internet connection and preferably a large screen rather than using a mobile phone with a small screen. If you don’t have good internet or a large display screen, you should speak to the Pastor who told you about the lessons. He may be able to offer some suggestions, such as sharing with someone else from your village.
-
What to bringAlways bring a pen or pencil and paper or a notebook to write on.
-
CoursebookThere is no coursebook. Readings and practice exercises will be shown on screen. You will need writing paper and pens to make your own notes in the lesson. Some information may be sent before or after the lessons.
-
Class sizeThere will be up to 10 students in each class. The students may be from different countries and may speak different languages, so English will be the only language spoken in the lessons. If classes at your language level are full, you will be told you are placed on a waiting list.
-
If you are under 18 years oldWhen you take Language Level test, you must not enter your own email address in Question 5. You must enter the email address of your parent/legal guardian, or of another adult named by your parent/legal guardian. The teacher will email the named person, to ask if they give their permission for the teacher to email you by using your personal email address, or by using their email address for all communication between you and the teacher.
-
Contacting the teacherWhen you are offered the class place you will receive the email address of the teacher.
-
CommunicationUsually by email.
-
If you miss a lessonIf you miss lessons and do not email the teacher about the reason for your absence before the lesson, your place may be given to someone else on the waiting list.
-
TestsYou may be given tests to check that you understand the subject, but there is no exam at the end of the course. When you finish the course, you will be given a certificate describing what language level you have studied and how many lessons you have been to.
-
HomeworkSometimes you will be given homework. Remember, homework is to help you learn. It gives you practice at writing in English.
-
Lessons and holidaysThere will be one lesson every week. The lesson will be up to 90 minutes long. The lessons will continue through the year. You can take holidays whenever you need (but you should tell the teacher before the lesson that you can’t come to that lesson). Also, the teacher will tell you if they will be on holiday (sometimes a different teacher may be able to take that lesson).

Classes are freeThere is no cost for taking part in the TENteach programme.
